At Jack & Jill Community Preschool, we believe in nurturing young minds through a blend of exploration, creativity, and play. Our mission is to create a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and eager to learn. Through hands-on activities, engaging curriculum, and a focus on social-emotional growth, we strive to foster a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
Our passionate educators are dedicated to guiding each child’s unique journey, encouraging curiosity, and building the foundation for future success, not only academically but in all areas of development.
Early Learning & School Readiness:
Our preschool curriculum is thoughtfully designed to ensure a smooth transition into Kindergarten. Our structured program strikes the perfect balance between free play, teacher-guided tasks, and engaging theme-based activities, allowing children to learn at their own pace while building essential skills. With a focus on early literacy, letter and number recognition, colors, shapes, and counting, we lay a strong academic foundation. At the same time, our daily routines help children develop independence, follow classroom routines, and engage attentively in group instruction, setting them up for success in Kindergarten and beyond.
Social Emotional Development:
At Jack & Jill Community Preschool, we place a strong emphasis on developing social-emotional skills that help children build successful relationships with their peers and cultivate a positive sense of self-esteem. Through our dramatic play centers, children engage in cooperative and imaginative play, learning the importance of sharing, empathy, and teamwork. We provide opportunities for hands-on exploration, allowing children to understand the world around them through play and discovery. These experiences foster confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging—key elements for both social and academic success.
Fine Motor Skills:
Our preschool program offers a hands-on, multi-sensory approach to strengthening fine motor skills. Through activities like arts and crafts and the use of multi-sensory manipulatives, children have the opportunity to express themselves creatively while learning to process sensory information effectively. We incorporate the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum, which is also used by the Grand Island School District, to provide a fun and engaging introduction to handwriting. Our program helps children gain the skills and confidence to form their letters, numbers, and write their names, laying a strong foundation for future writing success.
Gross Motor Development:
Our preschool program emphasizes the importance of gross motor skill development, providing plenty of opportunities for active play and movement. From running, jumping, and climbing during outdoor play to guided physical activities in our spacious play areas, children build strength, coordination, and balance. Through obstacle courses, group games, and music and movement activities, our students enhance their physical skills while learning to navigate space and interact with their peers. These activities not only promote physical health but also support brain development, helping children grow strong, confident, and ready for the challenges of Kindergarten.
